AI Systems Engineer

Build smart tech that transforms healthcare

At Lynqo, we’re bringing hospitals into the digital age with intelligent tech that replaces outdated manual processes. Every day, hospital staff lose valuable time and energy manually checking if surgical instrument sets are complete after surgery – a repetitive process that's very prone to errors. We believe it’s time to automate this with smart detection systems.

As an Antwerp-based startup, we’re looking for an AI Systems Engineer who’s excited to take charge of our software and AI ecosystem. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the full stack – from edge computing to data pipelines – while also implementing and optimising the machine learning algorithms that power our detection and reasoning technology. In this role, you’ll get the chance to shape the intelligence behind our product.

Your role

As our AI Systems Engineer, you'll join our founding team and take ownership of both the short-term development and long-term evolution of Lynqo’s software and AI ecosystem. Your role will cover building, optimising, and maintaining a robust, intelligent system that integrates seamlessly into complex hospital environments.

Machine learning implementation & optimisation

  • Develop and maintain the edge computing framework and AI data pipelines.

  • Implement and continuously improve the vision recognition and machine learning algorithms powering our technology.

  • Monitor and optimise algorithm performance for accuracy and consistency in real-world use.

Systems integration & operational support

  • Ensure seamless integration with hospital IT systems in collaboration with hospital IT teams.

  • Proactively debug and maintain the system during deployments and ongoing customer operations to ensure high reliability.

  • Work closely with engineering partners and pilot hospitals to align technology with real-world needs.

Architecture & continuous improvement

  • Suggest and implement architectural enhancements based on performance insights and user feedback.

  • Contribute to technical documentation for compliance and future scaling.

  • Support the CTO in defining best practices and contribute to team development as Lynqo grows.

Profile

We’re looking for a hands-on AI Systems Engineer who combines strong technical skills with a proactive mindset, and can bridge the gap between innovative technology and practical deployment in healthcare settings.

What you bring to the table:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Python.

  • Practical experience with computer vision and machine learning (e.g. using PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenCV).

  • Strong collaboration skills to work with our hardware team, technical partners, hospital IT teams, and non-technical end-users.

  • Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus for local customer interaction).

Bonus points if you...

    • ... have experience with back-end frameworks (e.g. Django).

    • ... know your way around cloud platforms (e.g. Azure).
    • ... have worked in compliance-driven environments (e.g. CE certification, healthcare IT standards).

    • ... are interested in technical leadership and contributing to team growth as Lynqo scales.

    The mindset we're looking for:

    • Proactive, solution-oriented, and able to take ownership from design to deployment and ongoing improvement.

    • Flexible and energised by working in an early-stage startup where responsibilities evolve.

    • Enjoy balancing software development with hands-on problem-solving in complex environments like hospitals.

    • Curiosity and continuously looking to improve your skills and the solutions you build.

    • Motivated by delivering real-world impact in healthcare.

    Offer

    • A full-time role in a mission-driven startup.
    • Own the development of our complete software and AI ecosystem.
    • Competitive salary and the opportunity to participate in stock options.
    • Flexible hybrid working (office in Antwerp).
    • Opportunities to grow together with the company.
